HOW IT WORKS

What is a ductless heat pump?

It’s a highly efficient heating and cooling system using heat pump technology.

Split-zoning air-conditioning and heat pump systems have been the quiet solution to provide cooling and heating solutions around the world for decades.

How does it work?

Heat pumps do not create heat; they simply move available heat from one place to another. An outdoor unit absorbs warmth from the surrounding air and transfers it into your home via refrigerant in copper lines. Ductless heating and cooling systems are reversible, two-way heat pumps that simply take heat energy from one place and move it to another by compressing and expanding refrigerant.

How it works

What are the parts of a ductless heat pump?

To create a functional mini-split system, you must select an outdoor unit and at least one indoor unit. Ductless heat pump systems can be controlled with a remote controller.

Outdoor unit: connects to the indoor unit by a small bundle of cables, including a refrigerant line. The unit is placed outside of the home at ground level.

Indoor units: are mounted on a centrally located exterior wall. One ductless system is often all an average-sized northwest home needs to gain the benefits of a ductless system.

Remote control: allows occupants to adjust the settings for maximum efficiency, comfort, and control.

How do I use my controller?

Your remote controller may look slightly different from the one used in the video but will work the same. To change the setting on your ductless heat pump system, press MODE to select your desired operation mode. Each press of the button changes the mode in the following order: Auto, Cool, Dry, Heat. If the MODE symbols look different on your remote from those HERE, please consult the user manual for your specific air model. Click HERE to view the GE Series remote Quick Guide.
