Challenge

During the installation assessment, the IDHP team discovered hazardous electrical issues that required immediate attention. A walkthrough revealed a high fire-risk electrical panel, an outdated service entrance, and knob-and-tube wiring concealed behind the walls. These unexpected hazards posed significant safety concerns and had to be resolved before any new heating system could be safely installed.

Solution

After carefully evaluating the home and developing a tailored installation plan, the IDHP team got to work. Their electricians began by upgrading the outdated electrical panel, resolving the existing gas system, and safely eliminating the knob-and-tube wiring. These critical steps brought the home up to modern safety and efficiency standards before ductless heat pumps were installed in two rooms.

Results

By upgrading the electrical panel, the homeowner eliminated a major fire risk and gained consistent, year-round comfort through high-efficiency ductless systems. This essential update not only addressed critical safety concerns but also drastically reduced energy costs and set the stage for future generator installation.

“The electricians did an outstanding job retrofitting a house that was part 1940s and part 1960s construction. They navigated some significant challenges with skill and professionalism, and the results really show.”
